Without loading any new drivers, my old MFC-7820N prints great as a network printer on a simple home network with PCs and Macs living together in Ethernet harmony (wired and wireless). However, the scanner function of the MFC needs OS X Brother drivers which I loaded from this page: Even after updating the scanner's firmware and installing the new drivers on the Mac, the ImageWriter application could not connect to the MFC-7820N, nor would the 'ControlCenter' application (part of the Brother software update) launch. Both of these issues were corrected by connecting to one of the Macs via USB cable. Clearly this is not optimal for a 'network' scanner.
