The Print Shop 2.0 For Mac
I know this is not an Apple software but I am curious if anyone has any experience with the Print Shop 2 on Snow Leopard. I bought and installed the latest, supposedly SL compatible version because my old v1 would not work on SL. I like PS alot and installed the graphics also since I had room, an Intel iMac and would not have to use the CD. It does pretty good except in bringing up the graphics and the color palettes, which takes about 11 secs to load. I thought on this Intel it would fly, especially since the graphics are on the HD and not the CD. I have been trying to correspond with MacKiev and they answer, but it takes 3 days per reply to get a response.
The program runs well in safe boot but not as snappy in regular boot. Anyone happen to have any suggestions. Other than the graphics and color palettes, it seems to do pretty good, although not as fast as I thought it would be. I don't have any other apps open while using it, only the regular automated tasks that take place in boot up.
Thanks, Glen. Have you downloaded and installed the latest update, which is supposedly for better compatibility with Snow Leopard?
That makes your PS2 version 2.0.7.2 I just tried making a new sign with several graphics, and changed a few colors, etc. Everything pops in place with no noticeable delay, with the longest time waiting for the final document to spool to the printer, like 15 seconds. I do have 4GB of ram, in 2008 MacBook, running SL 10.6.2 You could try your Activity Monitor. Maybe you have some process that is grabbing processor, either PrintShop, or some other function. I downloaded the update and installed it and it still takes about 11-12 seconds to open the graphics box on the first opening. After I open it the first time, then it will open up fine. Same thing happens with the borders, not the picture frames.
The color palette seems ok. I opened the Activity monitor, not sure what I am reading, should I be looking at the percentages, the size or what? Printshop uses 46mgs and something called kernel tasks seems to be the biggest user of memory and fairly constant. PS is functional and I can use it, would just like to have it perform like it did on my old G4 and version 1.
I use it for individual labels also because iDress is no longer available. No, you would be looking for a large amount of processor use (other than kerneltask, which is the part of your system that works underneath everything.

Print Shop 2.0 Update
It usually will use the most processor, or close to most). I think you simply have a caching issue with PS2, and likely not much you can do about that. You will likely have less notice of the slow caching if you leave PS2 open. Here's something to try: Get Info on the Print Shop 2 application, and make sure that 'Open using Rosetta' is not checked.
