Gary Burns, AVOID! Fundamentally broken and no support from Tapbots Just had a very frustrating twitter (ironic, eh!) convo with Tapbots CS. Who simply chose to blame twitter API (see notes on v.2.5.8) for the raft of missing functionality on this app. Admittedly it did work fairly well when I bought it (March 2018) — now it barely does anything that anyone using a twitter client would want. Mentions, RTs, likes — you can pretty much forget about seeing those on Tweetbot 2. Even following the entire thread of a conversation you’re having is largely impossible. It’s unusable, basically — it should not be on sale here and it most certainly SHOULD NOT be listed as an Editor’s Choice!

So, what are Tapbots doing about this? Well, mostly blaming twitter And not offering any kind of make-good or discount to customers lumbered with one of the most expensive (and useless) twitter clients around. Absolutely shameful practice by a company I’ve bought several apps from down the years (going back to the iPhone 4). Gary Burns, AVOID! I’ve used Tweetbot for iOS for a number of years now and found it to be the best app for accessing Twitter on iOS so I thought that I would give the Mac app version ago. Within a few minutes of using it it has again outdone the original Twitter app by miles.

The UI and features on the Mac app copy that of the iOS app and everything just works brilliantly. It’s sad that a 3rd party app does a better job for Twitter users than Twitter themselves. Well done Tweetbot 👍🏻. Mark38says, The best twitter app by far! Overpriced, and rip off upgrade Bought this about month ago, when twitter discontinued their Mac client. It didn’t do anything useful the offiicial one did, and was worse in a few key respects, but I wanted a desktop client, and this looked the best option.

Now when I open it today I get a pop up saying they’ve discontinued support for it and want me to pay full price again for the upgrade to their new version. I paid full price and got about 6 weeks use out of the app before they dumped it. Look elsewhere. Dctsys, Not that great.
